Have Questions About RCA?
- When Does School Start? Rock Church Academy will be Open for in-person instruction, beginning September 3, 2025, for Grades 1-12. Pre-K & Kindergarten will begin on September 4, 2025. School begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.
- How Many Students Are in Each Class? Elementary and Middle School classes consist of approximately 15-20 students per teacher. Pre-K classes have a lower class ratio of about 10 students per teacher.
- What Curriculum Do You Use? We currently use “Abeka” as our main curriculum for Pre-K. For grades K5-12 we use a combination of Abeka for Language Arts and SAVVAS Math for Mathematics. Abeka is a well-established Christian Educational Curriculum that has a proven history of high academic standards for students. SAVVAS Math Curriculum is used due to the curriculum's stronger emphasis on critical thinking, reasoning, and mathematical rigor. Our middle school and high school scholars use Purposeful Design Curriculum for English Language Arts instead of Abeka.
- Anything Else? Abeka is supplemented with "SAVVAS MATH" for grades K5-12 to add additional rigor to our mathematics program. RCA also uses Reading Eggs & Guided Reading levels to track students' progress in reading.
- What About Electives & Extra Curricular Activities? We also offer a variety of school-day electives such as Art, Physical Education, Chapel, Music, Media, & Life Skills (includes lessons on communication, leadership, finance, economics, and patriotism). After-school electives vary each quarter and have included the following clubs: guitar, piano, cooking, dance, cheerleading, nature rangers, basketball training, fitness club, math club, business club, fashion design & modeling just to name a few.
- Do Students Wear Uniforms? Students wear uniforms daily. Our Rock Church Academy Uniform consists of a light-blue top, bearing the Rock Church Academy Crest, and navy blue bottoms (modest shorts, pants, skirt, skort, or jumper). Students in Pre-K2 through Pre-K4 may wear navy-colored shirts instead of light blue. Scholars in grades 6th-12th may wear cobalt blue shirts and clear blue plaid skirts/jumpers (female scholars). - Where Do I Purchase Uniforms? Uniforms can be purchased from Lands End or French Toast. We also utilize two local companies who can add our logo to existing shirts or clothing items you may purchase elsewhere: "Shifflet & Horn" (Located in Dundalk) & "Top Stitch Embroidery" (Located in Parkville).
- Does RCA Offer Lunch? Yes, RCA offers school lunch for an additional fee. All meals are prepared fresh on-site by our school chef. Students are welcome to bring their snacks and lunch daily. We are a nut-free facility, so students should avoid bringing peanut butter or food products containing nuts. Our Pre-K students will be offered a morning snack and beverage daily. All other grades should bring their snack from home. All students should bring a refillable water bottle.
