Two of our First Grade Scholars Journeyed to Radio One Baltimore, and learned all about what it takes to operate a radio station.
Our Scholars learned first hand how to conduct a radio interview by participating in a "on the spot interview". Scholars also learned about equipment used at the station.
Later that day, our Scholars returned to the classroom for a quick math challenge.
Scholars traveled to the local Post Office , and saw first hand, Community Workers in action.
Scholars were able to example the day to day operations, and all of the management it takes to perform the task.
Scholars even got to have a little fun and scan some packages set for delivery!
Nature is very close to our back yard at Rock Church Academy. Community natural life is found right around the corner at Webers Farm. Scholars took the day, and learned about all of the fun things there to do!
Scholars were greeted by a host of animals, fruits, vegetables, and a host of other fun. Picking fresh pumpkins, tasting fresh home made ice cream and deserts were amongst some of the fun things to do.
But what stole the day was the mountain of tires, the hay ride, and sack slide. It was an especially fun and warm October day. We can't wait to go back this year!
Scholars traveled to Fox 45 News studios in Hampden and had an AMAZING DAY! Scholars were able to tour their recently premiered studio stage set, along with learning all about the processes and technologies it takes to run a news station.
Scholars got to see first hand how a green screen works, as they pretended to be the weather Meteorologist, mixed with a little bit silly exciting fun!
How much technology does it take to automate the news? Well our scholars were able to find out just how much detail goes in to produce the very things we watch daily.
Giving back to Generation l, this past holiday season was a blessing! Scholars found out just how much joy they bring to those who have sewn a seed, and invested into their generation.
Light House Sr. Ctr, welcomed our Scholars with open arms. Residents of the center were entertained by the sweet sounds of caroling, and holiday cheer brought by our Scholars.
Scholars were even able to bring joy, and recollection to elderly dementia patients, who scurried to the hall to find joy in the buzz around the home. The scholars were even treated to a Christmas brunch. Thank you Light House Sr. Ctr for the warm hospitality!
